Meet the Senator Sunday

This is Senator Henry Jackson Edward Graves III speakin'.  It's Sunday and time for another edition of "Meet the Senator Sunday"...except there's just a little problem...see I am takin' a vacation and just don't have nothin' to say today...I tell you...with all that hard Senatatin' I have to do every day of the week, I think I'm due a vacation from the stress and turmoil I face. 

So, to unwind and relax, I'm goin' to Tahitti with some chicks.  I'm gonna live it up and have a freaky time with the ladies.  I just hope that annoyin' Anderson Cooper don't decide to 'vestigate me and do a big expose about me and git me in trouble 'cause I fully intend to go wild and let it all hang out this week.  Dang ol' Anderson Cooper...we are all still very mads at him...last Sunday was the last time I will ever grant him an innerview.  I bet my refusal to talk with him will put a big damper in his career.  That's what he gits for breakin' my Elsie Fallulah's heart.

So...I'm off to Tahitti with some babes.  I hope you all have a good week and will return next Sunday for the next stimulatin' edition of "Meet the Senator Sunday".

This is all of us speakin'...mommy had to go out of town real unexpectedly.  Her mommy is very sick.  While she was away, she noticed a stray cat that her dad had been feedin'...she is super-tiny and very very friendly.  Her mom and dad can't take this little girl in 'cause mommy's mom is so very sick.  So...you know what our mommy is thinkin', don't you?...

MOMMY, STEP AWAY FROM THE CAT...DO NOT TOUCH THE CAT...LEAVE THE CAT WHERE IT IS!  We don't want no more cats in this house...there might not be enough Temptations and Fancy Feast for all of us if you bring her to the Whiskers & Purrs House...

STOP IT MOMMY!

This is Elsie Fallulah Graves speakin'.  I am sad and all of y'all know why...I won't go through it all again...it is very sad and dramaticals.  I just wish I could go back to the good ol' days when I was a baby girl and all it tooked was a nice sunbeam to make me happy...

I am very real sads...I think I need some Temptations to make myself feel betters.

Anderson Cooper broke Elsie Fallulah's heart...

This is Elsie Fallulah Graves speakin'.  My only wish for my birthday did not come true...Anderson Cooper has broked my heart.  I guess I'm just not important. 

Me and mommy talked 'bout it...we are still gonna give The Best Little Cathouse in Pennsylvania our donation...even though I might not matter, all them little cats at the sanctuary do.

Thanks to every one of my wonnerful friends that tried to help make Operation Birthday Wish a success...you all are the best friends a girl could ask for.

I am very sad...I'm gonna go binge on Fancy Feast and Temptations to try to help myself feel betters.

Now that I'm Six...

Happy Birthday, Elsie Fallulah Graves: Let the celebrations begin!

Dear Elsie Fallulah,

The big day is finally here!  I can't believe that today you will turn six years old!  I will never forget the first time I saw you...all 13 ounces of you.  You were so afraid, sick and sad...your mama cat had been taken away and "dumped" and you were left to die.  The kids of the awful person that took your mama away showed some mercy...but they were ignorant of what to do.  So they put you in a shoe box and taped down the lid and kept you for a week...trying to feed you cow's milk with a turkey baster every couple of days.  When our vet heard of the situation, he asked if I could go get you...the photo above was taken the first time I met you...you were sick, tired...and covered in dried milk that got all over you when they tried to feed you.  The moment I saw you, little sister, I knew you were supposed to be my best friend. 

Sweet Elsie, you have taught me so much in the last six years...you've taught me how to be brave even in times of great fear and worry...how to stand my ground and defend myself when I am not treated fairly.  You've shown me that it's okay to feel sad...'cause some times you need to feel it in order to get to the other side.  You've shown such confidence and wisdom, little girl...I only wish I could be as strong as you.

I know lots of people think we are "silly" about reaching out to your Anderson Cooper in such a big and obvious way...but...in all honesty, you really do respond to him when he is on camera...it kind of freaks me out, Elsie.  The real reason, though, we want to reach out to your Anderson Cooper is to call attention to all the overlooked homeless animals...the throw-away cats that suffer every day.  What if you had not been rescued?  I would've never met my very best friend.  So, I hope through Operation Birthday Wish we might cause others to think twice when they see a stray cat or dog...maybe they will try to help it and meet the best friend of their life.

Mr. Anderson Cooper, I hope you haven't been too inconvenienced by all of our wonderful friends and fans...it's just that we all want to see the underdog win...during a time when all of the news is bad, well, we want to hear something that gives us hope and inspiration...we all just want to see that little tiny cat that had all the odds going against it come out ahead.  Your taking time out of your busy schedule to acknowledge this little fiesty cat is just like someone taking time to put some food out for a stray and trying to help it find a home...it's an incredibly kind and generous act that will make a difference.

If you have a minute and can send our sweet girl a quick "Happy Birthday" on Twitter, Facebook or our blog, just know that it will mean the world to us...and, we'll donate $500 to a wonderful feline hospice (The Best Little Cathouse in Pennsylvania) on your behalf. 

And, Anderson, if you don't feel like you can, well...we'll be disappointed but...we'll understand.  Not everyone "gets" the animal "thing"...but if you aren't there yet...all of the Whiskers & Purrs Gang will say prayers for you that you will understand one day...you just have no idea what you're missing!

Sweet Elsie...let's go crack open some Temptations and get the Nip started!  It's time to celebrate six glorious years!

A message to Erica Hill: Operation Birthday Wish...

This is Miss Elsie Fallulah Graves speakin'.  It's time for us to pull out the big guns...here is my open message to Erica Hill from CNN...

Dear Ms. Erica,

In case you ain't heard 'bout it, I gots me a Operation goin' on and I sure could use your help.  It's Operation Birthday Wish...See, I really like my Anderson Cooper.  Even though I am a cat and have lots better things to be doin' with my very busy life, I really do watch AC360 and you every night.  I love my Anderson Cooper...(I like you, too, but...well, ya know...not the same way).  When he comes on the TV screen, I sit and watch him.  When he goes off camera, I either lay down or walk away.  I like him lots...and would love to be his cat...

Ya know...live in his big fancy house, have his maid feed me cheese and Temptations and have his mom make me some jeans.  But, I am very smart and know that ain't ever gonna happen.  I have accepted that...but...a girl can still have dreams...my birthday is on Wednesday, July 15th...the next best thing to bein' his cat would be to have him wish me a happy birthday on Twitter, Facebook or our blog...

Womans to womans, Miss Erica, I am sure you unnerstand that this is a big day for me...a girl only turns 6 years old once...well, okay, I might actually have 9 more times to turn 6 years old, what with me bein' a cat and havin' 9 lives and all...but...ya never knows...this might be the 9th anniversary of my 6th birthday...this could be it for me and I sure would love to have just a simple "Have a Happy Birthday, Miss Elsie Fallulah Graves" from my Anderson.  And, what's even better is if my Anderson sends me a happy birthday wish, my family, the Whiskers & Purrs Gang, are gonna donate $500 to The Best Little Cathouse in PA...I know that ain't TONS of money but...well, it will buy lots of Fancy Feast, Litters and medicine for some very sick cats.

So...if you could help us git the word to my Anderson Cooper, well...I would be forever gratefuls.

Mazie Monday!

Dearest peoples on the innernets,

This is Mazie Grace speakin'.  It's Mazie Monday!  Today we are gonna talk 'bout...what else...Anderson Cooper.  See, my big sister, Elsie Fallulah, has been all worried and everything 'cause Anderson went to some place called "Ghana" and while he was there he was bited on the eyeball by a big ol' bug.  Now his eyeball is all swolled up.  Seein' as that I have had my share of eyeball issues, I told Elsie that I would give Anderson Cooper some advice.  

First of all Mr. Anderson Cooper, I am real sorry your eyeball got bited.  But...if you had Elsie Fallulah Graves with you, she would've deaded that mean ol' bugglet before it ever could've put the bitey on your eyeball.  Now you've got Ghana Buglet Cooties floatin' 'round in your insides.  Are all of your shots up-to-date?  Oooohhh...you better hope so or your eyeball just might fall out!

I tell you what you gots to do to git through this, Mr. Anderson Cooper...you gots to milk it for everything you can!  Don't tell nobody this but...well...it won't take long for your eyeball to start to feel better but...you can git all kinds of pitty and good suppers if you don't let on as though it's betters.  I had my last eyeball operation 'bout a month ago.  It was very real not funs.  I feeled bad for 'bout 3 days but...even though I was feelin' betters, I refused to eat my normal supper and would only eat Temptations...plates and plates and PLATES full of Tempations.  Plus, I had lots of very special time with mommy without any of the other Whiskers & Purrs Gang to bother us.  I bet your mom would be happy to stop makin' jeans and take care of you, too.  I milked my eyeball operation for almost 2 whole weeks!  I bet you could, too!

I hope you are feelin' betters by now but...if you are...that will be our little secret, 'kay?  Remember...pity is only good if you're feelin' good enough to enjoy it!  Milk this boogered-up eyeball situation for as long as you can!  I won't tell.  I will keep your secret just as long as you make Elsie Fallulah's Birthday Wish come true...she just wants you to send her a "Happy Birthday" message on Wednesday, July 15th, either on our blog, on Facebook (Elsie Fallulah Graves), Twitter (ElsieFallulah) or her email address (Elsie AT Whiskersandpurrs DOT com).  We're gonna donate $500 to The Best Little Cathouse in PA cat sanctuary if you do...come on, Anderson...Please don't break Elsie Fallulah's heart...or I'll tell.
