Practicin' for the Papparrazzi...

Dearest peoples on the innernets,

This is Jimmy Durante Graves III speakin'.  Well, today is our big day.  We will officially be big national TV stars after today.  We are very skeert.  We don't want to look like we are a bunch of rednecks livin' with a weirdo freaky bean.  We hope it comes off goods. 

I have started practicin' for when the papparrazzi start puttin' their cameras in my face all the times...I think I have gots it down pritty good now and I'm ready.   You just can't let them peoples git photos of you and then sell 'em to magazines and makes billions and jillions of dollars without sharin'.  It just ain't right.  I'm gonna do it the right way...I'm waitin' on People magazine or maybe Newsweek to call.  I just know the phone will start ringin' off the hook this time tomorrow!

Okay...gots to git lotsa naps in so we can stay up and watch ourselfs in all of our national TV star glory!

This is Miss Elizabeth Taylor speakin'.  We are all very ready for our close-ups on TV!!!  Tomorrow is the big day!  This picture of me was taken by Aunt Sara.  She was a part of the crew that came to the Whiskers & Purrs House back in the spring.  We all liked her a lot...she has a big boy cat named Jude. 

We are all still a little skeert 'bout bein' on national TV and all...I am very worried 'bout the papparrazzi...I just know they are gonna hound me, what with me bein' so beautifuls and all.  Maybe I should consult Angelina Jolie for advice. 

Okay, I must start plannin' for my world debut.  The life of a innernational super star is gonna be very hectic.  I hope I am ready!

Mazie Monday

Dearest peoples on the innernets,

This is Mazie Grace speakin' and today is Mazie Monday!  Oh, peoples!  I'm startin' to git butterflies in my tummy!  Now...I wish I could say I had eated me some butterflies...Mmmmm...tastey!  But...I'm gittin' butterfly-ey because I am skeert.  My big TV debut is Wednesday night! 

As all of y'all knows, me and my family is gonna be on TLC this comin' Wednesday night.  I'm skeert for several reasons...what if my mommy and our home looks freaky and people make fun of us?  Or...what if lots and lots of peoples falls in love with me?  What if they want me to be their little girl cat?  What if there are millions and millions of boys that want to kiss me?  What if there is somebody that starts stalkin' me and decides to kidnap me?  What if mommy has to hire security and then the papparazzi start accusin' me of havin' a affair with him?  What if there is cameras outside our house 24 hours a day wantin' to sneak pictures of me doin' stuff?  What if the stress of all of this makes all of the Whiskers & Purrs Gang start fightin' and stuff and we all decide to git a divorce?

Oh...I am just so stressed out 'bout this!  I think I will take me a nap.  Please...somebody wake me up when it's all over, 'kay?

Meet the Senator Sunday: Recess and Healthcare Reform!

Dearest peoples on the innernets,

Today is Sunday.  It is time for "Meet the Senator Sunday" with me...Senator Henry Jackson Edward Graves III.  I have had me a little down time what with the Senate bein' on recess and all.  I like recess.  It is great funs!  I don't gots to do anything at all when I am on recess...I gits to sleep, eat, poop, look out the window and stare at stuff, stare out into space and meditate and kiss me some womens when I'm on recess...wait a minute...that sounds an awful lot like what I do when I am bizzy bein' a high-powered Senator...I've always wondered why little kids like recess so much.  Once I became a high-powered Senator I finally unnerstooded. 

Now I wanna make one small comment 'bout all this talk that's goin' on 'bout healthcare.  I know some of my fellow Senators are bizzy havin' Town Halls and stuff...not me...I'm very bizzy with doin' my recess stuff.  But, I do want to say right now that I am 100% for healthcare reform.  I gots to tell you...when I go to the vetroregurgitarian, I just git disgusted.  First of all...they touch my stuff without askin' my permission.  Now I know mommy gives her permission but...it is MY stuff.  Stop touchin' it!  And, they squeeze and poke stuff.  Stop it!  And don't even git me started 'bout when they drain out all of my bloods to run tests and stuff.  We need healthcare reform and we need it now.  What is wrong with all you loud mouth people whinnin' 'bout the fact you don't want no reform?  I guess you crazy beans like havin' your stuff touched and squeezed and poked.  You peoples are weirds.

Okay, time to go stare out into space for 4 hours.  I'm on recess...life is good.

Dearest peoples on the innernets,

This is all of us speakin'.  Well...it's time for our big-ass freaky-deeky announcement!.  The TV documentary that we telled ya'll 'bout back in the spring is gonna air this comin' week.  We are very nervous 'cause we ain't seen it yet.  We really like them people that came to our house with them big ol' cameras and lights and stuff.  Unkle Mark, Aunt Sara, Unkle Warren and Unkle Eric...they was all lotsa funs and we actually hated to say goodbye to them.  We was real excited when they came back for a 2nd visit and filmed us more!  That was great funs! 

Mommy says this could go one of two ways...we could either look like good peoples that are just tryin' to help other little ones OR we could look like ignorant doofusses.  We don't want our mommy to look like a weirdo freak. We know there are people that are gonna think she is weird and we don't really keer 'bout that.  We just hope our message of doin' the right thing when it comes to homeless animals is communicated.  We agreed to be in the show for the right reasons and we didn't git nothin' like green papers or anything so...if it turns out that we look goofy or people make fun of us well...at least we tried.

There are lotsa peoples in the world that like to pass judgement on others...don't matter if you have a house full of cats or look a certain way or believe a certain way...there are people that think they are important enough to decide that you is wrong or weird or crazy...them judgemental peoples are really ignorant and are a big part of what's wrong with the world today.

Anyways...please say a prayer that this turns out in such a way that maybe we will help people to think twice and actually do somethin' when they see a homeless little person like all of us used to be...if you git a chance, watch us on Wednesday night and let us know what you think!

Since mommy was so very sad yesterday 'cause she was thinkin' so much 'bout Felix, we decided to do some redekoratin' at the www.whiskersandpurrs.com web site.  We wanted to surprised her and hopefully cheer her ups.  We hope all of y'all like our new banner!  And...we got more surprises comin' next week.

Dear Felix,

One year ago today we had to say goodbye.  It was one of the saddest days of my life.  Even though you had to leave us, you are still a major part of our home.  You will never be forgotten, sweet boy.

Since everything in our world has been topsy-turvy 'cause of mommy's mommy bein' so very sick and Eddie the Dog and Thelma Louise and all...we didn't git to have Mazie Monday.  So, to make sure Mazie's feelin's ain't hurt, we writed her a poem:

WE LOVE MAZIE GRACE DAY!

Once upon a time
In a faraway place
Was a tiny little girl
Who's name was Mazie Grace.

She was so very sweet
From her head down to her toes
How she came to be that way
Ain't nobody knows

She was blind as a bat
And oh, so alone
Doktor Blair fixed her eyeballs
Now her troubles are all gone.

We love our Mazie Grace
More and more every day.
We are thankful for her sweetness
Even more than we can say.

Breaking News: Top Cat Named

Dearest Whiskers & Purrs Gang,

Wow...it sure has been a hard few weeks here at the Whiskers & Purrs House.  I just don't know how I could've gotten through it without you.  It started with us getting that awful phone call that my mommy was very sick and in the hospital.  I had to leave you guys for a long time.  Then, while I was a away 2 little people found their way to let me rescue them.

I don't know how little people always seem to find me but...Eddie the Dog had been dumped at my mom and dad's house.  He is old and had been hit by a car.  We rushed him to the vet and got him fixed up...there was nothing I could do but take him in until we could find him a place to stay forever.  I know you guys were very very VERY aggrivated with me but...we did the right thing by helping Eddie out.  He's now safely with the Virginia Jack Russell Terrier Rescue Group...and I know you guys are thrilled to be rid of his barkiness...but...well, mommy sure does miss that little boy. 

Then came Thelma Louise, aka "Baby"...she was a stray that my dad had been feeding.  I snatched her up and we discovered she was gonna have babies.  We took her to the vet and had her spayed.  She now has a wonderful home with one of my friends...she is a very sweet and lucky girl.

Through it all, you guys have been real troopers as we have tried to help these little homeless ones.  I guess you somehow know that each of you have been in their paws before.  I just want you all to know how proud I am of you.

We've had a tough year...very soon we are coming up to the one year anniversary since we lost our dear sweet Felix Unger Graves.  He was your leader...the boss...Top Cat.  Since then, well...we really haven't had a Top Cat.  You guys seem to be lost without him.  I know I have been lost without him...not a day goes by that I don't think about those beautiful soft green eyes and that gentle, manly "meow".  But, over the past few months, I'm pretty sure a leader has been emerging...our New Top Cat!

I am proud to announce that our sweet Miss Elsie Fallulah Graves is now officially the Top Cat of the Whiskers & Purrs Gang!  I've been watching how you all interact with each other and Miss Elsie is without a doubt your leader.  Each of you have begun to defer to Elsie and seek her out for comfort.  She breaks up squabbles and puts you guys in your place when you're being silly.  She has been through a lot this year, what with Anderson Cooper breakin' her heart and all...but she has been resilient through it all and a great help to me in running the Whiskers & Purrs House!

Please join me in congratulating Miss Elsie Fallulah Graves in her leadership role with the Whiskers & Purrs House!  She has big paws to fill...first Ricky was Top Cat, then Lucy and then Felix.  I know she will run the Whiskers & Purrs House with a firm paw and a warm heart...good luck, sweet girl...we all love you!

Mazie Monday...Night!

Dearest peoples on the innernets,

This is Mazie Grace speakin'.  Today is Mazie Monday...well, at least it WAS Mazie Monday earlier today...it is now Mazie Monday Night.  Everybody...I gots to tell you that me and all my brothers and sisters is all real sad.

Mommy has been goin' back and forth to West Virginia 'cause her mom is very very VERY sick.  While she was there a couple of weeks ago, she rescued not only Baby...aka Thelma Louise...aka Betty Louise...but she also rescued a dreaded D-O-G.  Both Baby and "Eddie the Dog" are only with us temporary.  Baby will be goin' to her new home on Thursday of this week and Eddie the Dog will be leavin' at the end of the week.

When mommy is home, she is tryin' to spend some of her time with us, some of her time with Eddie and then some of her time with Baby...that leaves NO time for bloggin' or Facebookin'.  We are all skeert that all of our friends will forgit 'bout us 'cause our blog is not bein' updated...AND...don't even git me started 'bout how lonely we are to have mommy kiss us and love on us and worship us and dote on us like she used to...

So...today I thought I would try to git mommy's attention by puttin' on my All-American red, white and blue dress...I ain't sure but I think maybe I look irresistables in it but...mommy walked right by and didn't even notice my super-sweet-cuteness.  Can you believe that?

Mommy, we really really REALLY want things to git back to normals and Eddie the Dog to stop bein' all barky and everything.
