Two months ago today we had to say farewell. I cannot believe it has been so long since I have seen those beautiful green eyes and heard that warm purr. Oh, how you are missed, little one. Please keep watching over us...forever.

This is Fergie the Duchess of Huntsmoor speakin'. I unnerstand how Coco feels...I'm feelin' sad, too. Felix was my best friend. We was married. I ain't had no manly kisses since he went to heaven 6 weeks ago. I miss him so much. My heart hurts...a lot.
Felix, please keep watchin' over us and make sure we all can feel that you is with us, 'kay?

To all our friends on the innernets, this is all of us speakin'. We is talkin' in italics 'cause somethin' very special has happened and we is a little shaked up. Mommy got a call from our friends at VRCC. They said Felix's ashes was ready to come home. Mommy went and got him yesterday. She cried...a lot. Our hearts hurt, too. Aunt Doktor Davies Vet Tech is named Jenn. She made us a paw print to always remember Felix by just like she did for Lucy. Mommy loves both of them dearly but they make her cry even harder. It was hard to git a picture...but you git the idea of what it is:
Mommy telled us that somethin' special happened as she drived up to VRCC yesterday. She saw a small butterfly flyin' 'round the door. As she got outta the car and turned toward the hospital, that little butterfly flew right up to her and its wings brushed her cheek. That ain't NEVER happened before. This is the only butterfly mommy has seen all summer long...mommy is afraid to believe it might be a message from Felix that he is still with us...oh how she wants to believe it, though.
We believe it...we don't just believe it, we KNOW it.
Dear big brother Felix...thanks for givin' mommy a sign that you are still with us. Keep watchin' over us, kay? And, keep sendin' mommy signs until she knows it's you, just like we do.

Dear Mommy,
I'm sorry I had to leave you. I know you is real sad, but I need you not to be, Mommy. See, I had been hurtin' for so long...I had forgotted what it was like to feel good. The hurtin' got so bad that I just couldn't take it no more. As much as I know it hurt you, I want you to know that I am eternally grateful for you and Aunt Doktor Davies helpin' me outta my hurts. See, now that I am in heaven, I am happy!!! I gots it all now...I feel good plus, I still git to see you, my womens and all my brothers from the Whiskers & Purrs Gang. Now I know you can't see me but I can see you real good. I'm with you whenever I wanna be...and that's all the time. I even go with you to work now...uh, mommy, why do you spend so much time there??? YUCK!
I know you asked me before I passed over to promise to always be with you. Mommy, there just ain't no other way. Where else would I be? Me and you are always gonna be together and when it's your time to pass over, I'll be right here waitin' with Lucy Margarite and Ricky Eugene Graves. I promise, mommy. And I'll be right here waiting for all of the Whiskers & Purrs Gang, too.
I know you have a hard time unnerstandin' alla this, what with you bein' so literal and all. You asked me to give you a sign that I was still here. Silly mommy...you knowed I had gived you a sign before I even passed. 'Member back right before Ricky Eugene Graves went to heaven, a little scrawny, skinny stray showed up? And then 'member how that little stray just happened to move in right after Ricky went to heaven? Uh, mommy, that little stray was ME! And then 'member how no other strays showed up after that? That was 4 whole years without seein' one single stray. Ricky sent me as a sign that he was still with you and for me to watch over you since he had to leave.
Well...think back to two days before I went to heaven last week...'member that little young grey tabby that was in our back yard? Then he disappeared until Sunday night? Mommy, if you ask me for a sign, I will send you one. It might not be the one you want, but it's very much a sign...a message from me that I am still with you and will be forever. I know the little stray cat might not move in to live with the Whiskers & Purrs Gang, but I just know you is gonna help him or at least try to. That's why I love you, mommy, and always will.
I ain't goin' nowheres. I will stay with you forever.

To all the peoples on the innernets, this is Elizabeth Taylor and Fergie speakin'. We was two of Felix's womens. We is so sad...we promise we ain't tryin' to make everybody sad by talkin' 'bout Felix. It's just that we don't know how we is gonna git by without him. Mommy feels that way, too...she ain't stopped cryin' yet!
Fergie: I'm so lonely, Elizabeth Taylor...Felix used to always wash my face and kiss me...now I gots nobody to kiss me.
Elizabeth Taylor: I will kiss you, big sister.
Fergie: And I will kiss you, little sister.
Elizabeth Taylor: Oh, big brother...please watch over us from heaven and let us know you is still with us.
We're just gonna have to take keer of each other...that's the only way we'll make it.

Dear peoples on the innernets,
We are all very sad. We have lost our Man of the House. Felix is in heaven now. All eleven of us are being very quiet...nobody is playin' or bein' too rough. Mommy is cryin' a lot. She says her heart hurts...it is broked. We feel that way, too. Why did this have to happen?

It is 5:40 AM on Tuesday. I just got off the phone with one of the ICU Technicians at VRCC. Felix had a good night after I left him. At around 1:00 AM, his fever began to break. The normal temperature range for cats is 100.5 - 102.5. Yesterday, Felix's temperature was 105.5. It is now down to 101.9. And, the appetite stimulant is helping...when I spoke with the Tech, she said he was sitting on another tech's lap, eating like the true champ that he is. She also said that all night long he had been quite talkative and eating up the attention...such a ladies man! This time yesterday, he just would lay in the cage and not have any interaction with me or anyone else. To hear that he is feeling well enough to eat and socialize even a little makes me so incredibly thankful.
Now it is important to not read a lot into this. In the past few weeks, just as quickly as his temperature can go down, he can skyrocket back up. He still has a lot of work ahead and anything could still happen. We may still have to say goodbye but in my mind, it's one hour at a time. I just know all your prayers from around the world have made the difference. You just have no idea what your prayers mean to me and the entire Whiskers & Purrs Gang...please keep 'em coming as Felix needs to continue improving and getting strong.

Thank you dear friends from Zoolatry for this lovely image...it's called "Be well, Felix". I visited Felix tonight. Not much change...temperature is still fairly high and he's weak. But there was a twinkle in his eye and he licked my face and eyelashes. And, the appetite stimulants they gave him started to work a little. The vet wants to see if the new antibiotics will start to kick in with the next 24-hours. Oh how we are all praying that they will!
I do not know what tomorrow will bring...but for now, my Sweet Felix is fighting to stay with us. Please continue to pray that he can stay strong and we will know what the right thing is to do for him.
Thank you all for your kindness...the comments and emails are coming in faster than we can keep up...please know that even if we do not respond right away, every comment and email means so much to us. We will update the blog with updates as we get them from the vet.
